In 2013, Bùi Tiến Dũng was called up by then coach Nguyễn Thành Dũng to join the youth team of local side FLC Thanh Hóa. Quickly becoming the main keeper for the U19 Thanh Hóa side taking part in the National U19 Championship. The club were to also buy out the the young keeper's contract with the Thuong Xuan Youth Training Center thus enabling Bui Tien Dung to be promoted to the first team and registered to compete in V-League.
In the V-League, Tiến Dũng found himself playing second fiddle to the then Number One Nguyễn Thanh Thắng. However, after the goalkeeper made inexplicable mistakes in the 3-4 loss to Than Quảng Ninh on October 22, Tiến Dũng was promoted to Number One and made his V-League debut in the 2-0 away victory over Long An. Tiến Dũng was to only figure for Thanh Hóa 6 times during the 2017 Season and was loaned out to U-21 Becamex Bình Dương's U21 side, allowing the young keeper to attend the national U-21 finals.
Tiến Dũng returned to Thanh Hóa and found himself in goal as the club ventured into the AFC Cup, and made his debut in the 1-0 victory over Cebu of the Philippines. He also started in Thanh Hóa's 1-0 victory over Ho Chi Minh City in V-League 2018.
In 2019, the young keeper Tiến Dũng moved to Hà Nội FC in what was hoped to be the re-birth of his career which had began to show signs of stalling. However, whilst at the Capital side, Tiến Dũng was to see 1st team action on only 5 occasions.
In an effort to re-launch his career, Tiến Dũng signed for City for the 2020 Season. The move has also reunited him with his previous contestant for the Number One jersey Nguyễn Thanh Thắng who joined City at the beginning of 2019 and who has quickly established himself as City's Number One.
