The date of City's next game against S. Khánh Hòa BVN in Nha Trang has been changed from Saturday 4th May to Monday 6th May.  Venue is still the SVĐ 19 tháng 8 and Kick Off is at 17:00.

Injury Update : It is anticipated that No 11 Matias and No 9 Hoàng Thịnh will both be available for the trip to Nha Trang.

City's unbeaten start to the 2019 Wake-Up 247 V League 1 season came to an end on Saturday night as they were beaten 0-1 by a strong Hà Nội at the the SVĐ Hàng Đẫy in front of 13,000 spectators.  A goal in the 44th minute from Hà Nội striker Samson was enough to separate the two sides in the top of the table clash.

For the second game running, City suffered injuries to key players.  Both No 88 Christian and No 94 Joel received knocks.  The injury to Joel appears to be bad and both are likely to miss the trip to Nha Trang to face S. Khánh Hòa on Monday 6th May.  www.hcmcfc.net would like to wish them both a speedy recovery.

City's squad for Saturday's top of the table clash against Hà Nội FC has been released.  As expected, there is still no place in the squad for No 10 Trần Phi Sơn.  There is also no place for injured duo No 9 Ngô Hoàng Thịnh and No 11 Matias.  Into the squad comes No 6 Quế Ngọc Mạnh and No 75 Võ Lý.

In other news.  Following a last ditch appeal from Hà Nội regarding the closure of the SVĐ Hàng Đẫy to fans, the VFF have reversed their earlier decision and have allowed fans to attend tomorrow's highly anticipated clash.

City's team has arrived in the capital to prepare for Saturday's top of the table clash with Hà Nội FC.  Unfortunately, there will be no fans inside the ground as the VFF will not relent on their scandalous ruling over the behaviour of the so-called fans of Hải Phòng FC.

24th April 2019

Due to the actions of fans of Hải Phòng FC at their recent match against City's next opponents Hà Nội FC at the SVĐ Hàng Đẫy on Matchday 6.  The VFF have decided that Saturday's top of the table clash between Hà Nội FC and City will take place behind closed doors.  Both Hải Phòng FC and Hà Nội FC have been fined 20 million đong. Also, as the game took place in Hà Nội they are the club to be punished for the behaviour of Hải Phòng.

Congratulations to City's No 14 Đỗ Văn Thuận and No 15 Nguyễn Hữu Tuấn for making the Team of the Week for Week 6.  Recognition for an excellent performance against Viettel on Saturday night.

City overcame a stuttering start to record a 2-0 home victory over Viettel FC in Week 6 of the Wake Up 247 V-League 1 season and maintain their place at the summit of the league.  In doing so, City stretched their unbeaten start to the season to 7 games (6 league and 1 cup).  Goals from No 15 Nguyễn Hữu Tuấn (73 mins) and No 94 Joel (92 mins) secured all three points.  City next travel to Hà Nộ FC full of confidence.

On a negative point.  There were injuries to both No 9 Ngô Hoàng Thịnh and No 11 Matias that are being reported as requiring weeks to repair.  Both are therefore very likely to miss the trip to Hà Nộ.  www.hcmcfc.net would like to wish them both a speedy recovery.

It's Matchday 6 in the Wake Up 247 V-League 1 Season and tonight City host Viettel FC at the SVĐ Thống Nhất.  Kick Off is at 19:00.  The squad has been released and as expected it is just too early in No 10 Trần Phi Sơn's recovery from long term injury for him to be included.  There is also no place for No 75 Võ Lý has he regains his fitness.  Read the preview for tonight's game here.

City hosted Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu FC last night at the SVĐ Thống Nhất in a friendly/training match.  City's team included the return of inspirational midfielder Trần Phi Sơn who completed 50 minutes of football as he continues his recovery from a long term injury.  Phi Sơn showed some of his trade mark twists and turns which has made him a firm fans favourite.  Bà Rịa Vũng Tàu's side included ex-City players Nguyễn Hải Anh and Trần Hoàng Phương.  The match was played over 120 minutes split into 50, 30 & 30 minute periods.

After Friday's great victory over B. Bình Dương on Friday night, the team returned to training in preparation for this weekend's match against Viettel FC.  Participants included both No 10 Trần Phi Sơn and No 30 Đào Quốc Gia who continue on the road to recovery.

Congratulation to both Joel (94) and Công Thành (71) for being named in the Wake Up 247 V League 1 Team of the Week for Week 5.  Excellent recognition for all the team's hard work.

City regained top spot after defeating B Bình Dương 3-2 at the SVĐ Gò Đậu in Week 5 of the 2019 247 Wake Up V League 1.  Goals from 94 Joel (2) and 71 Công Thành maintained City's unbeaten start to the season.

City were held to a 0-0 draw in the Derby against Sài Gòn FC tonight at the Thống Nhất Stadium.  The result brings to an end City's winning streak.  However, the unbeaten run continues under Coach Jung Hae-seong and now stretches to 5 games in all competitions.

City overcame a potential banana skin by beating V-League 2 side Phố Hiến FC 2-1 at the PVF Academy on Sunday evening.  Goals from No. 9 Ngô Hoàng Thịnh on 3 minutes and No. 99 Phạm Văn Thành on 17 minutes were enough to put City through to the next round where they will face Viettel FC.
