Place of birth: Hải Dương, Việt Nam
Height: 1.78 m (5 ft 10 in)
Playing position: Striker
Hailing from Hải Dương Province in Vietnam's Red River Delta area, Xuân Nam joins City with a wealth of experience gained at various levels of both Vietnamese football and time spent playing in the Laos Premier League for SHB Vientiane F.C. (SHB Viêng Chăn). The 26 year old striker started his career at Hà Nội FC but found opportunities hard to come by. Loan stints at SHB Vientiane (Laos), Sài Gòn FC and Phố Hiến followed before finally joining up with City during the close season. Xuân Nam is well known to City fans, not because of time spent with Sài Gòn FC, as he scored against City in last season's National Cup for Phố Hiến from the penalty spot in City's 2-1 victory at the PVF Sports Centre. Goals for Phố Hiến seemed to come in twos with ten of his fifteen goals coming in braces.
City's new striker has also played against his new club for city rivals Sài Gòn FC in 2017. Sài Gòn FC ran out 1-3 victors that night with Xuân Nam being replaced by Marcelo Fernandes in the 75th minute. Included in the visiting team that night was current City midfielder Đỗ Văn Thuận who scored in the 85th minute for Sài Gòn and Lê Hoàng Thiên who left City during the close season. Hoàng Thiên was also among the scorers netting his goal in the 55th minute.
