Pape Diakité made his footballing debut for Slovakian Side AS Trenčín against MŠK Žilina in the Fortuna Liga on 24th November 2011.  After making 8 appearances, Pape Diakité secured a move to Belgium side Royal Antwerp F.C making his debute in the 2-0 home victory over Eendracht Aalst on 4th August 2013.  Whilst at Royal Antwerp. Diakité went out on loan to fellow Belguim side Oosterwijk playing 11 times (5 as a used substitute).

2016 and the player was heading to North America to play for FC Edmonton in the Canadian Championship.  Making his Canadian debut on 3rd April 2016 in the 0-0 away draw to Rayo OKC of Oklahoma City in the North American Soccer League.  He was to make 64 appearances for the Canadian side before moving south to Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2018 via a very brief spell in Thailand where he was registered with Police Tero.

Whilst at FC Edmonton, Diakité was named the NASL's Young Player of the Year for the 2016 season.

Pape Diakité's final game for the Rowdies came on the 27th October 2019 against Louisville City in the USL Championship resulting in a 1-2 defeat at the fantastically named Louisville Slugger Field in front of 4,636 spectators.

The player leaves Tampa with a good following of fans and well wishes as he embarks on his next journey with City.
