Brief History

Formally known as Quảng Nam-Đà Nẵng, the club changed its name to the one we know today in 2008 due to ownership being transferred from the Sports Committee to SHB Bank.  During the late 1980's and early 1990's the club was to continuously challenge for the National Championship as it was then known.

Since gaining promotion back to the top table in 2001, the club has enjoyed success on a number of occasions.

  • 2005 - The club finishes 2nd in V-League and qualify for the 2006 AFC Champions League.

  • 2006 - The club finishes the domestic season in 7th place and come 4th in Group E of the Champions League

  • 2009 - After changing its name to SHB Đà Nẵng, the club celebrated the name change in style by winning the V-League Title and qualifying for the 2010 AFC Champions League Qualifying Play Off.

  • 2010 - Although the club was unable to reproduce the form of the previous season domestically.  On the continent it was able to reach the Quarter Finals of the AFC Cup finally losing to Al-Riffa from Bahrain 3-8 on aggregate.

  • 2012 and Champions again finishing the season on 48 points.

  • 2013 - Finishing second in V-League, the club reached the Round of 16 in the AFC Cup before losing to Semen Padang (1-2) of Indonesia.

  • The last few years has seen the team bounce around the middle of the pack finishing the 2019 Season in 10th position.

How to Get to the SVĐ Hòa Xuân

The distance between HCM and Đà Nẵng is a sedate 962 km making the journey a long, but not impossible, one in terms of road or rail transport.

Travel Options 

Plane - All the major airlines fly to Đà Nẵng International Airport with flying time approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.  The airport is approximately 2 km outside of the city centre.  There are direct buses from the airport to the city centre which can be found outside of the arrivals hall.  Prices to Đà Nẵng will naturally vary between airlines and when you book.  

Train - There are five direct trains that you can take from HCM to Đà Nẵng.  Trains leave from Sài Gòn Railway Station which is located in District 3 and arrive at Đà Nẵng Station which is at 791 Hải Phòng, Tam Thuận, Thanh Khê, Đà Nẵng.  The journey takes approximately 17-19 hours so plan ahead if you decide to take this option.  Ticket prices vary depending on train and accommodation option but expect to pay at least đ900,000 for a one-way ticket.

Bus - The bus journey will take approximately 20 hours.  There is one company that runs one direct bus between HCM and Đà Nẵng called Hoang Long.  The bus departs Miền Đông Bus Station in Binh Thanh District, HCM and arrives at the 201 Tôn Đức Thắng, Hoà Minh, Liên Chiểu, Đà Nẵng.  Cost wise expect to pay approximately đ600,000 each way.
